Spay Neuter Kansas City or SNKC

promotes spaying and neutering as a primary means to decrease pet-overpopulation and to improve our community’s commitment and responsibility in animal welfare.

Through our spay and neuter program we will:
snkc
Reduce the number of unwanted and stray animals entering our shelters
Keep our neighborhoods safer by decreasing the number of dangerous animals in our community
Decrease the number of homeless animals roaming our neighborhoods.
Strengthen families through education of responsible pet ownership.
Educate today’s youth to help promote responsible pet ownership for their future.
Make adoption more likely for a shelter pet than death.

Westside Community Action Network

Westside CAN
Their mission is to facilitate the creation of a safe, healthy, viable, civically-engaged neighborhood in which to live, play and work. First and foremost, the Westside CAN Center acts as a Resource and Education Center for those living and working on the Westside. They distribute or provide information on City and State programs and services that impact our neighbors. They distribute bulletins and newsletters on such things as zoning, property maintenance, programming at the Ruiz Library or Aguirre Center etc..

Youth and family oriented activities are done in partnership with agencies such as: the Ruiz Branch Library, Tony Aguirre Community Center, KCMO Parks & Recreation, Mattie Rhodes Center, Family Conservancy/Family Focus Center, Westside Lions Club, etc.

The Day Laborer Program began in 2002 and now serves approximately 1500-2000 immigrant laborers per month.
